Alice Joanne

Singing/Piano/Music Theory

Singing, piano and music theory tutor Alice Joanne Quill (orig. Akvilė Gelžinytė) is also a an actively performing singer, actor, conductor and music manager.

Alice grew up in Vilnius, Lithuania. Since the very young age she has been involved in various artistic activities such as acting, dancing and coherent music studies. Alice has spent most of her younger years working with choirs and ensembles, at that time went on multiple tours and contests with choirs all around Europe and Japan. Winning national competitions as a young choir conductor has inspired and encouraged her to choose a career path of a professional musician.

A few years ago Alice has moved to London to broaden her musical and theatrical horizons. She is currently pursuing a degree in Musical Theatre at LMA and is an active musician in both Lithuania and United Kingdom. In London, Alice focuses on developing her own skills and teaching whilst in Lithuania, Alice keeps working as a theatre coordinator at Vilnius City Opera and music manager.

Teaching music allows her to develop both personally and professionally and gives the invaluable experience on the path of pursuing future aspirations such as a musical and drama director.

Apart from being a kind, fun and very well organised tutor, one of Alice’s strengths is her ability to read pupils and understand what approach will suit them best. When teaching piano and singing, Alice’s main goal is to give every student all the tools necessary to learn and achieve their preferred style with a good quality by introducing them to various techniques, exercises and genres. Alice's singing pupils also learn about a vocal tract anatomy - in a simple, safe and comprehendible way.

Most importantly, teaching is a huge passion and inspiration for Alice – meeting new pupils and finding out about their individual needs and different personalities is a relief from a demanding professional industry and a great opportunity to share her experience and knowledge with future musicians!
