DR. Emre Engin
 
Piano/Violin/Music Theory

DR. Emre Engin, one of the proteges of Maestro Pinchas Zukerman, was awarded “The Young Soloist of the Year” by 2012 International Istanbul Music Festival, which was followed by many other awards such as the “Yehudi Menuhin Award” by Sudborough Foundation, the Royal College of Music, “Best Emerging Artist” by Donizetti Classical Music Awards, 1st prize at the Ilhan Ozsoy Presidential Violin Competition, and the prestigious “Career Grant” by N. Eczacibasi Foundation. He has given solo and chamber music performances in many countries such as the United States, Canada, England, Italy, Holland, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, and Israel. The artist recently performed Mozart’s Violin Concerto no.5 “ Turkish” with Tekfen Philharmonic at the opening concert of 2020 International Istanbul Music Festival.

DR. Engin completed his bachelor’s degree with Itzhak Rashkovsky at the Royal College of Music, London with first class honors and his master’s degree with Pinchas Zukerman and Patinka Kopec at the Manhattan School of Music on a full scholarship, generously supported by the CEV “Harika Yetenekler” Foundation. He has completed his doctoral degree at Stony Brook University Music Department and held a teaching assistant position at the same institute where he has taught music theory and violin.

DR. Engin, who studied piano as an additional instrument at Uludag University State Conservatory and Yale University Music Department has an extensive teaching career both on private and institutional settings. His students have achieved high grades at the exams such as the ABRSM (UK) and NYSSMA (USA). DR. Engin was a faculty member at a California-based “Notes Bay the Bay Music Festival“ where he led large ensemble classes and gave one-on-one lessons to young pupils as well as held a teaching artist position for a year at the Yale University Music Department. 

His teaching style is very friendly, professional and fun, DR. Engin is now working in London with Crescendo School of Music and Art teaching piano, violin and music theory in grades 1-8 and is a fellow member of the English National Opera Orchestra.

The artist was appointed as the concertmaster of the New Manhattan Sinfonietta by the legendary conductor Gurer Aykal in 2018. He is also a one of the co-founders of a New York based online concert platform “Musik in the Air”
